LPEF & Marching Band Partnership
-
The Lake Park High School Marching Band program and the LP Educational Foundation have created a partnership to assist the marching band in growing excellence, leadership and school spirit. The Lake Park Marching Band program strives to provide a rich and rewarding musical experience for al of its students, and is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to grow musically, socially, and academically.
The Marching Band program is a "no experience necessary" group open to all students. The band includes woodwinds, brass, drumline, pit (auxiliary percussion), and color guard (dance, flags, rifles, and sabers). The Marching Band has a long and proud tradition of excellence. This volunteer extra-curricular marching band has been a finalist, class champion and grand champion at numerous state, regional, and national events over the past three decades.
The main purpose of the partnership is to provide scholarships for the drum majors to attend the Bands of America Drum Major Institute. This national camp prepares our students to step into the roles of being the “tip of the spear” for our marching band student leadership team and conducting the band during performances. This camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that profoundly impacts our students and literally changes the trajectory of their lives. The real-life “soft skills” they acquire (in addition to all the conducting skills) are directly applicable to their adult lives.
