  • Families invited to attend GPS Parent Series workshops.

  • Through a continued partnership with Glenbard High School District 87, Lake Park families are invited and welcome to attend The GPS Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families workshops. Programs are offered free of charge and open to the public; no registration is required. View the 2024-25 calendar of programs and speakers.

    The GPS Parent Series is an educational consortium dedicated to presenting distinguished high-profile authors, clinicians, and educators who share their research-based knowledge and experiences.
     
    The mission is to enhance students' social and emotional learning, encourage responsible decision-making, foster positive growth, and development, and promote respectful relationships as we encourage conversation around the opportunities and issues facing families today.
     
    GPS is a resource for parents, educators, students, and community members to foster real-world skills and traits to help students be better prepared for college, the workforce, and life.

    Dr. Devorah Heitner
    Author of "Growing Up in Public: Coming of Age in a Digital World" and "Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive (and Survive) in Their Digital World". Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and CNN Opinion. She has a Ph.D. in Media/Technology & Society from Northwestern University and has taught at DePaul and Northwestern.

    An educator since 1983 in a career that has spanned all grade levels. He has been a teacher, an administrator, a district leader, a department of education project leader, and an executive director.

    Dr. Doug Bolton
    Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director of School Consultation for Formative Psychological Services. He spent over 20 years as a psychologist and principal at North Shore Academy, a K-12 therapeutic school in Highland Park. Dr. Bolton provides consultation, supervision, and professional development to parents, educators, and clinicians throughout northern Illinois to create communities that help foster student and staff resilience.

    Officer Ryan Forrest is a 7-year member of the Roselle Police Department. He has spent 3.5 of those years serving as Lake Park's East Campus SRO. Prior to his tenure with the RPD, he spent three years working at the Will County Juvenile Detention Center.

    Officer Chris Schwytzer has served the Roselle Police Department for 11 years. He is currently in his sixth school year as Lake Park's West Campus SRO.
