To be considered for induction, students must have completed at least three semesters of German with a 3.6 grade point average in German and have an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. In order to maintain membership, students must remain in the German program for the entirety of their high school career and must show interest in the German language and culture outside of the classroom by participating in at least one Honor Society approved activity per semester. Students attend a practice for the induction ceremony and then the ceremony itself. Our seniors lead the induction ceremony for the juniors. After that, students do the different activities on their own and report their progress back to the sponsor, who reaches out to students on a regular basis to remind them to keep up with their activities and to pass along any opportunities for getting their hours.
