The Youth & Government program is designed to involve students in as many phases of state government as possible—legislative, executive, press, page, and lobbyist. Through the year, students will meet for pre-legislative assemblies with advisors and students from other high school delegations where they refine: mock legislation, judicial briefs, legal arguments, press articles, campaign strategies, and lobbyists’ position papers. The culminating activity is a statewide three day takeover of the state government complex in Springfield each March. The program is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors.
