Vision and Hearing Screening
-
Illinois State law requires that the following high school students be screened for vision and hearing on an annual basis:
- special education students
- transfer students
- foster students
- teacher/parent/guardian referrals
The screening process, administered by a certified vision and hearing technician, will begin in September and continue throughout the school year.
Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.
