Distinguished Citizens
-
A Distinguished Citizen is a senior citizen who lives within the boundaries of Lake Park High School District 108 and is interested in student activities.
Lake Park recognizes the value of inviting our “seniors” to be part of our school family; the value of students and “seniors” communicating; the opportunities for our “seniors” to enjoy the many talents our students exhibit; and the value of feeling comfortable and appreciated in the community in which they live.
The active recruitment of local senior citizens began in 1996 as an outgrowth of Lake Park’s School and Community Committee. Committee members visited many senior citizen organizations, discussed the opportunities at Lake Park, and surveyed members’ interests. Since the fall of 1997, Distinguished Citizens have been offered numerous activities sponsored by the partnership of Lake Park High School and the Itasca Bank and Trust Company. These activities are hosted by a wide variety of student organizations.
Lake Park invites all local senior citizens to become an active part of the Lake Park family by joining the Distinguished Citizens.
