April 1, 2020

  • Dear Lancer Families and Staff Members:

By now you have probably heard Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s announcement that extends the “Stay-at-Home” order and the mandated closure of all Illinois schools through Thursday, April 30. This decision is important for the health and well being of our entire state as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

In anticipation of this news, I shared the District’s Remote Instruction Plan FAQs prior to spring break. Please review this information in preparation for when teaching and learning resumes on Monday, April 6.

We recognize that as the end of the school year approaches, we may be facing difficult decisions on whether to hold long-anticipated milestone events like prom and graduation. Please know that no decisions have been made yet; however, the prospect of having to make such decisions and the potential impact to our students and families weighs heavily on all of us. Decisions will be based on how the situation evolves and the information available as the dates near for these milestone events.

Please refer to www.lphs.org/covid19 to view all of the messages we have issued and other important information related to Advanced Placement, meal assistance, social-emotional resources and more.

I wish you all health, safety and some down time during the remainder of this spring break. As a school community, we must take care of each other and our families as we continue to navigate these challenging times together.

    With Lancer Pride,

    Lynn Panega, Ed.D.
    Superintendent
