  • Dear Lancer Families and Staff Members:

Currently, there have been no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Lake Park High School District 108.

Even so, with the number of cases across the state and region increasing and as a result of our communications and coordination with the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD), Lake Park High School is taking proactive measures to help reduce the spread of illness throughout our community.

Although we are not closing school at this time, Lake Park is implementing the following measures until further notice:

    • Large events, excluding athletic competitions, that include outside visitors are cancelled
    • Athletic practices or competitions with limited spectators may continue as planned.
    • All local, domestic, and international travel is cancelled for students and staff.
    • All off-campus field trips during the school day and weekend are cancelled.
    • All student internship experiences are cancelled.
    • All facility rental agreements are cancelled.
    • Visitors and guest speakers are not allowed on campus.

Decisions are still pending about spring competitions, performances and recognition events (e.g. musical, Scholarship and Awards, Spirit of Excellence, Prom and Graduation). Lake Park will evaluate whether or not these performances and events can be rescheduled at a later time.

If we do have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Lake Park, we will close school for 24 hours. At that point, the DCHD would help us assess the situation, evaluate our cleaning and disinfection practices, and reduce the risk and vulnerability to students. We would then work on a plan to move forward. Until then, school will remain open and we will continue our cleaning and disinfection practices as directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We will revisit these protocols as necessary.

As we receive new information, we will send it to you as soon as we can. Check our website here, where we will post all messages that we issue and other resources.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this situation together during these unprecedented times.

    Lynn Panega, Ed.D.
