March 16, 2020

  • Dear Lancer Families:

Since our last communication on March 13, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared an Executive Order mandating school closures from March 17 through March 30 due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic. Lake Park faculty and staff returned today for an inservice to prepare for continuity of instruction days.

The facilities are now closed, and all activities and events are cancelled, through spring break (March 30-April 3). These safety measures comply with state mandates and federal recommendations by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), all days that are missed during the school closure will be considered Acts of God days. This means school days, which were not previously  scheduled as part of spring break, will not be made up.

    Continuity of Instruction DaysMarch 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Students and parents should check email, Home Access Center (HAC), and Google Classroom for more information to participate virtually on the designated continuity of instruction dates. Students will not be penalized for any extenuating circumstances that do not allow them to participate. Many Lake Park teachers, to the extent possible, have prepared materials that include ongoing skill development, additional practice, review, enrichment, and various forms of digital engagement.

    • Materials are intended for students to stay engaged in learning, sharpen their skills, and deepen their understanding of content.
    • If students have any Chromebook-related questions, repair issues or need technical assistance, please send an email to lpchromebase@lphs.org during the designated time frames. District technology team members will be ready to assist and respond as quickly as possible.

A dedicated phone line has been established to centralize all inquiries and better service families during this extended school closure. This phone line can be reached by calling (630) 529-3003. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. For emergency situations, please call 911 or contact local authorities for assistance.

Thank you for your support as we strive to do what is best for our students and our school community. The safety and wellness of our students, families and staff remain at the forefront of our decision-making process. We appreciate your assistance, and will continue communicating updates to you often.
