Details:

Lake Park High School's Film Appreciation Society announces the first screening of its fourth season with the heart-pounding thriller, Bad Day at Black Rock. The free event will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:00 PM in the Lake Park High School West Campus Auditorium, located at 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Roselle. Run time for the film is 1 hour, 21 minutes. Showcasing the "man on the run" theme for the September installment, this 1955 John Sturges film stars Spencer Tracy as John J. Macreedy, a mysterious one-armed stranger who gets off the train in Black Rock, a mere speck of a town in the American west. What he encounters is a town full of people who shun him. Upon learning of Macreedy's purpose in visiting the town, the denizens of Black Rock ultimately launch an all-out attack against him to preserve their well-guarded secret. Other notable actors include Robert Ryan, Anne Francis, Ernest Borgnine, Walter Brennan, and Lee Marvin. Community film buffs are invited to attend the cinematic presentation and stay for an in-depth panel discussion regarding the background and history of the featured film. Patrons will also be able to preview and vote for film selections for the next Lake Park Film Appreciation Society presentation. The Lake Park Film Appreciation Society aims to engage the community in the presentation, exploration, interpretation, and critical discussion of classic cinema.
