The drama and music departments will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical Oklahoma! May 1-4 at the East Campus Dice Auditorium. Performances are scheduled for May 1 at 7:00 p.m., May 2-3 at 7:30 p.m., and May 4 at 2:00 p.m. Early ticket orders are encouraged since the performances are expected to sell out.
Set in the Oklahoma Territory in the early 1900's, this joyous celebration of frontier life is a story of tender romance and dangerous passion. Curly, a sunny, good-natured ranch hand and Laurey, the farmer's daughter, at first deny their love and later embrace it after the menacing Jud Fry tries to come between them. The latest exploits of Ado Annie and her ever-patient fiance, Will, provide comic relief. The ground-breaking musical was the first collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. It has become known world-wide with such memorable songs as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'", "People Will Way We're in Love", and of course, the title tune, "Oklahoma!". Audiences will be singing along with the Lake Park cast of over 90 performers.
Tickets are $7 for adults; $5 for non-Lake Park students; and free to all seniors, children under 13, and Lake Park students/staff with their school ID. Tickets can be ordered in advance by calling 630-295-5313 or e-mailing lptheatreboxoffice@lphs.org. Join us for this American classic!
