Illinois School Report Card

Annually, the Illinois State Board of Education assesses the performance of all elementary and secondary public schools as required under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. This assessment utilizes various academic and student success indicators designed to identify schools needing support and improvement. Combined, these results lead to schools receiving one of five potential summative designations.

Exemplary
Top 10% of schools with no underperforming student groups.

Commendable
Schools with no underperforming student groups and a graduation rate exceeding 67% that fall outside of the top 10% of schools.

Targeted
Schools in which one or more student group(s) is performing at or below the level of the "all students" group in the lowest performing 5% of schools. Schools in this category complete a full Targeted Support School Improvement Cycle to help meet the needs of the underperforming student group(s).

Comprehensive
Lowest performing 5% of schools with graduation rates less than 67% that have previously completed a full Targeted Support School Improvement Cycle (at least one or more student group(s) remains at or below the level of the "all students" group in the lowest performing 5% of schools. Schools in this category complete a full Comprehensive Support School Improvement Cycle to help meet the continued needs of the underperforming student group(s).

Intensive
Lowest performing 5% of schools with graduation rates less than 67% that have previously completed a full Comprehensive Support School Improvement Cycle.
