College Board Updates (as of 4/3/20)

  • Lake Park staff and students have dedicated a great deal of time and energy to their Advanced Placement (AP) courses. With over 1,000 Lancers enrolled to take the AP exams this year, Lake Park wants to reassure families that students will now be able to take the AP exam(s) they registered for at home. College Board is developing secure 45-minute online free-response exams for each course based on fewer units of study in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For most Lake Park courses, this means that Lancers have received all of their instruction while school was in session and many AP courses will shift to exam review and preparation. This will set our students up for success as they prepare for these shortened at-home exams. Below are some important College Board updates as Lancers prepare for these at-home AP exams:

    • For the 2019-20 exam administration only, most exams will be 45 minutes long, and include an additional 5 minutes for uploading. Students will need to access the online testing system 30 minutes early to get set up.

    • Each subject’s exam will be taken on the same day at the same time, worldwide. Exams will be given from May 11 through May 22. View the AP Exam Schedule to identify the date and time for each subject for 2019-20.

    • Students will be able to take these streamlined exams on any device they have access to—computer, tablet, or smartphone. Taking a photo of handwritten work will also be an option. AP teachers will provide insight on which method is recommended based on the subject.
