Lake Park High School District 108 Appoints New Superintendent for 2020-21

During a special board meeting on Wednesday, January 8, the Lake Park High School District 108 Board of Education unanimously voted to approve Jeff Feucht as the next superintendent of schools, effective July 1, 2020.

“Dr. Feucht demonstrated communication, leadership and interpersonal skills that ranked high in our superintendent search survey. The Board of Education is confident that he brings a student-centered vision that will make him an asset to our entire Lancer community,” stated School Board President Barbara Layer.

Dr. Feucht, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services at Glenbard Township High School District 87 since 2012, will replace District 108 Superintendent Dr. Lynn Panega who will be retiring after 16 years in the District, the past 10 years as superintendent. With his appointment, Dr. Feucht becomes the seventh District 108 superintendent.

In his current role in Illinois’ third largest high school district, Dr. Feucht has led the instructional leadership team in earning national recognition for providing sustained professional growth programs for its teachers and closing student enrollment gaps in advanced placement courses by race and income. He also brings extensive experience in strategic planning, instructional technology, and implementation of innovative course offerings.

Prior to his position as Assistant Superintendent, he served as Assistant Principal for Instruction at Glenbard West High School for three years, from 2009-2012. Before his tenure in Glenbard, Dr. Feucht taught at Bartlett High School in School District U-46 from 1998-2009, where he served in leadership roles at both the school and district level in the second largest school district in Illinois. Dr. Feucht also brings 11 years of classroom experience teaching English and Social Studies at the high school level.

Dr. Feucht received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he graduated with high honors in 1998. He earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University in 2001 and his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University in 2011. His dissertation, An Examination of the Relationship Between Select Implementation Strategies and Professional Development Program Success, was published that same year.

“As someone who has served over two decades of my career in two neighboring districts, I am well aware of the reputation Lake Park has for its tradition of excellence. I am truly humbled and honored to be assuming this leadership role,” Feucht said. “I look forward to partnering with the staff, parents and greater community in continuing to provide an exemplary education for Lancer students. I appreciate the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Panega in the coming months to learn how I can build upon the outstanding work that is ongoing. I would like to thank the Board of Education for this opportunity.”

The appointment of Dr. Feucht as Lake Park High School District 108 superintendent culminates a search process conducted by the Board of Education and facilitated by an executive search firm during first semester. The process involved seeking feedback from stakeholder surveys, as well as focus groups represented by community members, students, parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators. “We greatly appreciate the insights of those involved and found the feedback to be invaluable in this most important decision for the District,” Board President Layer commented on the process.

Dr. Feucht lives in Park Ridge with his wife, Vicki, and their two daughters.
