A captain in the United States Naval Reserves, a fire captain and a pastor are this year's 2008 Lake Park High School Distinguished Alumni honorees. Beth Ahern (Yeager), class of 1980, is a Captain the United States Navy Reserves and a technology systems engineer. Richard Kolomay, class of 1976, is a fire captain and acting battalion chief with the Schaumburg Fire Department. Jason Pankau, class of 1988, is a pastor, author and consultant.
The Distinguished Alumni were honored on March 13, 2008 at student assemblies and an evening
banquet at Itasca County Club. Commemorative plaques for each of the three Distinguished
Alumni were recently added to Lake Park's Wall of Honor, located at both campuses.
The Distinguished Alumni Recognition Program is sponsored by the Lake Park Educational Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to provide resources for unique programs and activities to enhance student learning at Lake Park High School. The Foundation accomplishes this through several programs and activities throughout the year including its Funds For Excellence grant program, scholarships, and several recognition programs such as the Distinguished Alumni Recognition Program.
