What is an Educational Foundation and how does it work?
An educational foundation is a nonprofit organization, chartered by the State of Illinois and
governed by a volunteer board of trustees. The LPHS Educational Foundation is dedicated to the goal
of educational excellence and responsible for raising funds from business and citizens. g
What is the mission of the LPHS Educational Foundation?
The mission is to provide resources for unique programs and activities to enhance student
learning.
What are the goals of the LPHS Educational Foundation?
The Foundation fulfills its mission by supporting the following goals:
- Promote student development
- Encourage innovative teaching opportunities
- Encourage school/community partnerships
How is this accomplished?

Funds for Excellence Grant Program - Since 2005, the
Foundation has provided $20,000 to LPHS teachers for innovative programs that enhance the
educational opportunities for our students.

Scholarships - Since 2005, the Foundation has granted
$29,000 in college scholarships to 26 LPHS graduates.

Events - Recognizing the achievements of our students,
staff, alumni and retirees: Distinguished Alumni Recognition Program, 5.0 Academic
Achievement Dinner, and Homecoming Week Breakfast.

Alumni Club - This exciting, new program began this fall to
help LPHS graduates stay in touch with their alma mater.
What is the relationship between the Foundation, the Lake Park School Board and the
community?
Although the Foundation operates independently, it works closely with the Lake Park Board and
staff in assessing needs and developing projects and programs. The Foundation encourages and
solicits suggestions from school personnel, alumni, business and industry, and members of the Lake
Park community.
