Advisors of these organizations
Color Guard students perform with flags, sabers, and rifles as a part of the Marching Band. Color Guard incorporates flag routines and dance movement into the drill that the band marches. Color Guard begins in the spring and maintains the same schedule as the Marching Band.
Contest play offers student actors and stage technicians the opportunity to participate in IHSA sanctioned competitive dramatics. Auditions take place in the winter and they compete in March.
The Dance Ensemble offers girls and boys the opportunity to enhance their dance skills. It offers two levels: the Company, for advanced dance students, and the Apprenticeship Program, for students improving their dance skills. The Dance Ensemble meets all year long, performs in a variety of venues, and produces their annual dance showcase in the spring.
Group Interpretation offers student the opportunity to participate in IHSA sanctioned competitions in the interpretation of literary works in a group presentation. Auditions take place in the winter and they compete in March.
The Lake Park Jazz Band organizes after the Marching Band season. Students learn the Jazz idiom and perform at several Lake Park functions as well as presenting a spring concert.
The Lake Park Marching Band organizes in the spring of each year, holds a summer camp, and competes each fall at invitational tournaments and the Bands of America series of competitions.
Lake Park Theatre
annually offers students the opportunity to participate in fall, winter, and spring three acts, a
children’s show, a spring musical, the IHSA contest play, the IHSA group interpretation
competition, and the IHSA Individual Events speech competition. Auditions are held in the
fall and winter.
Winter Guard uses the same skill sets as the Color Guard but performs as a solo unit in the winter and early spring.
