Web Quest for Background Information on Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men
Introduction:
You will be designing a portfolio for John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men . This web quest will help you gather information. You will create a portfolio that is informative and visually appealing and that contains information about the author, the setting of the novel, and the novel itself.
Certain aspects of the assignment will have questions to give you an idea of what you should include. All parts must be typed double spaced, in 12 point, Times New Roman font. Good luck and do your best!
Note: At the time of writing these assignments, all of the links worked. However, the Internet changes daily. You are not limited to the list of websites that I provided to you, nor do you have to go on all of the websites. Be sure to double check your facts, as all of the information on the Internet is not necessarily 100% accurate.
Each individual part of the assignment needs to be done on separate paper. Include a title on each page so I know what assignment I am reading. A decorative cover or folder
needs to be included with your writings.
Evaluation of Your Portfolio/ Turning in Your Portfolio
Your portfolio needs the following parts:
1. A colorful, decorated cover page or folder (10 points)
Pictures must pertain to the research that you have done for the project!
2. A title page done in the correct format (5 points)
3. A one page biography of John Steinbeck (15 points)
4. A half page to one page about the novel Of Mice and Men (15 points)
5. A half page to one page report about book banning and challenged books (15 points
6. A page with two pictures of migrant workers and with analyses of those pictures (10 points)
7. A brief analysis of the Great Depression (15 points)
8. A one page report about the care of rabbits (15 points)
For all of the above, you will need to refer to the specific assignment requirements to make sure you have done a good job .
9. A bibliography that indicates the sites that you used to complete your project. Title the page appropriately and do it in the correct format (10 points)
10. Grammar will be graded holistically (10 points)
Total points of project: 120 points
