The Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorder program is a
cross-categorical, departmentalized program that meets the educational and
behavioral
needs of identified students. Individual educational and behavior
needs are addressed through skill level development. The goals of the program
are as
follows:
1. Mainstream and include the students in as many regular education classes
as can be successfully completed
2. provide resource assistance for mainstreamed classes
3. increase academic skills
4. provide instruction in specific subject areas
5. continue to develop appropriate social skills
6. foster better communication between students, regular education teachers,
parents, and special education teachers
Academic courses offered in
the program include, but are not limited to, English, Math, Science, World
History, U.S. History, Health, Consumer Education, U.S. Government and Society,
and Resource Room. The number of mainstreamed classes a student has depends on
his/her academic level of functioning, ability to act appropriately, and ability
to complete the required work.
